Spookathon Dollar Tree Halloween Plates

I have been swooning over all the cool things I have seen done with the Cricut & Silhouette machines for Halloween.
I unfortunately don't have either...BOO! :(  (And can't really afford to buy one right now either!)
But I didn't let that stop me from creating some of the cool ideas seen out there in blog land on my own.
Check out these ones over at House of Smith's!
(They were my inspiration!)
Here's how I made mine:
I started with some plates I found at the Dollar Tree!
BEFORE

I found these cool Mirror & Window Clings from Martha Stewart over at Michael's. Along with this Chandelier sticker (also from Martha) both in the Halloween section. The window clings were $7.99 for 12...but I used my 40% off weekly coupon to make it more afforable.

Then I just applied them to the plates, smoothed out the bubbles & WHOLA! Beautiful Halloween Plates to go with my Spookathon Dollar Tree Apothecary Jars!

AFTER

And the best part about these vinyl clings versus going the Cricuit way is I can take them off & reuse them other places in my home or free up my white plates to put something else on for the next holiday or event! Even better! Multipurpose craftiness once again!

Enjoy!!!

  4. These look great! I know what you mean about the die-cutting machines! I recently used a package of MS stickers (sparkly birds) to embellish a plate, too. I find her products to be classy and high quality.

I'm visiting from MTWC. Have a great day!

  25. Hello! Somehow I landed on the Halloween party over at eighteen25 today, and when I saw the picture of your plates, I just had to pop in to take a look. They're so pretty! I thought for sure that you had painted them, so now I like them even more, knowing that I can easily make them too!

  27. Great idea - and definitely smart. This way you don't have to store your plates away for next year -- you can switch them out at will. Very smart.

  28. What a great idea! I don't have a vinyl cutter either so was wishing I could make some cool Halloween plates. Using the Martha Stewart decals is a wonderful idea. I think I'll look for plates at the dollar store this week.
